My sister emailed me the following which I thought I should save to read again each Christmas season –
“Let’s not let the grinch steal Christmas! It’s not the tree, it’s not the lights, it’s not the brightly colored presents, it’s the love we have for each other which doesn’t need all the hoopla to announce itself. Baby Jesus just came and was born, he didn’t have Silver Bells playing in the background, the Magi were late(r) with their presents, his parents didn’t send out Christmas announcements, they just had Love… We each have instances of that Love from others and what we give to others, which couldn’t be topped by anything under the tree!
You are Loved! I am Loved! The greatest gift of all! And no store has advertised that for sale anywhere.”
